Dr. James Engelman D.O. is an Osteopathic Physician trained in Osteopathic Manual medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has opened an office in Cherry Hill NJ that specializes in Osteopathic Manual Medicine. Dr. Engelman has 24 years experience with Osteopathic Manual Therapy (OMT) and has had very good success with treating patients using OMT methods.

OMT uses the knowledge of anatomy and physiology to effect changes in the body by relaxing spastic muscles, adjusting the spine to relieve tightness and dysfunction. Osteopathic treatment has successfully assisted and treated various disorders since its inception in 1874 by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still M.D.

There are differences between Osteopathic treatment and Chiropractic treatment. Osteopathic doctors treat and evaluate the whole individual and have multiple treatment options at their disposal to improve the patient’s functioning. X-rays are recommended only when needed. Most patients successfully complete treatment in less than 10 sessions and are satisfied and happy with the results.
