Can pain in one region cause pain in other areas?

The body is a balanced system composed of muscles, bones and other tissues. There is a fibrous sack that surrounds the body under the skin that attaches muscles and bones and skin. The fibers have a specific orientation. If one area is bound down that can translate to other areas. This causes an imbalance of fibrous and muscle tension and can effect various joints in the body. This is how tension and pain in one area can effect other areas, sometime distant from the pain source.

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment is designed to rebalance tension and forces that effect the body.
