I am in agreement that effective communication with respect from all involved parties is essential for relationships. I strive to achieve this with my patients. Listening to their needs and attempting to come to agreement on the best way to help them. I believe that effective communication is essential between doctor and patients.
There is a phenomena referred to as the placebo effect. This is usually related to medication and some patients response. This is a potentially confounding variable. I do not suggest what the patients will feel after treatment, I rely on patient informing me at the next visit what helped and what can be improved. Osteopathic Manipulative treatment (OMT) may provide immediate results. There may also be a delayed response, or lack of improvement. This is why communication is important and fosters understanding between parties. Tension and muscular pains frequently accompany increasing stress. The current situation in the world brings on many emotions and stress. While OMT can’t change the world or even the progression of some illnesses, it can have a positive effect on the body as well as the mind.
